The canvas stuff on the other hand I think should go straight into HEAD, because it's so fundamental that I want to see it well tested and thrashed into submission as soon as possible.
That was my intention. However, I was hoping I could switch the matrix view to a similar scheme without changing notation view, and it just won't be possible, there's too much common functionality between those classes. We'll have to discuss this further.
