Hi!

Recently I started a project to develop a tiny featurless video player
which gets the sync from jack.

The idea is to be able to sync visually a sequencer software with a
video clip. Very handy when composing a soundtrack, dubbing, etc. You
can find a small gadget like this in any major sequencer, like Logic
or Cubase.

Coupling the video player to jack makes it compatible with any jack
timebase master sequencer.

Next week I will set up a sourceforge repository for that project, but
I already have a first alpha working version. It is a 250 KB source
tarball that I will gladly send to anyone that is willing to give it a
try.

The problem is that Rosegarden only updates jack transport when
playing, but doesn't when moving the cursor or pressing the
forward/backward transport buttons. This feature would be nice in
order to seek significant spots in the video clip.

I also experienced that RG transport loses connection with the
sequencer process (that is what RG popup says). Both jack transport
and thus my video player keep running, but RG complains and asks the
user to quit. But this I should report at the bug list, I guess.

Regards,

Luis
