Nope, I didn't know there were DSSI samplers available, and this never would
have occurred to me at all, even if I had known. Are they part of the
standard DSSI distribution? I guess I haven't updated mine in ages. I'm
doing that now.

Interesting idea, and potentially a useful one.

Hrm. Are you talking about the "trivial sampler?" I guess it's been around
awhile after all. These examples aren't installed to the usual place, so
they're not available to me in the usual fashion, and I never have played
with that one.

Now that's weird. I must have some crazy horked up installation problem.
Those plugins are, in fact, in the same place all the rest of them are, but
I've never seen them show up in Rosegarden. I didn't even know they were
there.

Permission problem. I just wiped everything out, got dssi, xsynth-dssi and
hexter from CVS, and rebuilt and reinstalled everything from scratch, to
clean up any cruft.

The result is a directory full of .so files with 750 permissions.

Oops.

Why did three different install scripts just install everything with incorrect
permissions? I'm not in the "root" group, and it isn't reasonable to expect
me to be, is it? Shouldn't all of these be 755?

Well hell. The "Trivial Synth" and all that other stuff is here in Rosegarden
now. I always wondered about that, but evidently never wondered hard enough.

So I guess I will play with your sampler now.
