RFE 937362 is yours, and your proposal about using names instead of ALSA client numbers can be done if we implement true ALSA ports. I mean that you could do something like this: $ aconnect Rosegarden:1 Hydrogen:0 The above command would connect RG's first output port to the input port of Hydrogen, no matter which client numbers got that program instances. This is already supported by aconnect, and can be implemented in RG, too. This is something that we can do already for RG's recording port.
