I think it would be a useful tool. I'm sure I played with one or two loop-style sequencers on linux a while back but didn't find them very friendly back then.On Sunday 06 Mar 2005 18:17, Eckhard Jokisch wrote:
I want to implement something like an maq16 (www.doepfer.de) into the rosegarden framework.
I know that I can do some of the things with just one segment and having "repeat"
Its definately possible on RG, but lacking the convenience of - dare I say it - something like Reason. But, then they have been designed with different purposes in mind - Reason was designed for quick pick up & play whereas Rosegarden is much more powerful & versatile.
I think the advantages of integration would be the possibility to
a) export the pattern to the matrix/segment view for more intensive editing/sequencing
b) store a collection of patterns which can be triggered by events on the segment view
MIDI isn't my strongest point, but I think both of these could be achieved quite easily if it were a plugin which could be controlled from RG via MIDI. As far as my understanding goes, when your using it in live mode, you'd have to write each 16 or 32 bar loop to the composition just before the sequencer plays it. This seems troublesome to me, but I don't really know how RG handles repeating segments. Anyone else?

PS. I know this is late, just realised I only replied to the sender - doh!
