Well then, be my guest.  So long as you know how to get decent results 
out of it, of course (I'm not sure I would).

I would oppose icons being used by default, but I could probably live 
with a toggle.  I'd rather see more attempts at space-saving with the 
text versions first, but since I'm not actually finding the time to do 
that at the moment, I can't object to your at least trying whatever 
else you might try.
