I've just tested seqdemo.c with Rosegarden and everything is fine. It is weird
that this program ends the output lines with \r instead of \n, so each
printed line overwrites the last one, but otherwise it works as expected.

The control events in Rosegarden's startup are sent to every client, so you
are easily receiving them by default. Other messages, like the events
belonging to segments and tracks in a composition are sent only to the
subscribed ports. In Rosegarden 1.0 and older versions, this must to be made
following the procedure explained in the tutorial. See:

1. http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/en/chapter-4.html
Define instruments for your program in the Studio. Your program will be
detected by Rosegarden as a "MIDI software device". You can change the name,
the connection, banks, controllers and some other parameters.

2. http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/en/chapter-5.html#5_2
Assign one or several tracks to route its output to your device.

Regards,
Pedro
