No.  I don't think I do Monty Python quotations, except by accident.

I sometimes write *cough* when I mean to be a little embarrassed about 
something -- "I probably shouldn't be speaking up here, but..."

Or when I'm trying to politely correct someone.  Except it's not so 
polite, because writing *cough* draws attention to it.

Or alternatively, when something I just said isn't actually true, or is 
of no detectable value.

In this case, the latter.
