I'm still mulling this one over.

In the meantime, would it be fair to say your position is:

 -- You should be choosing the key mapping for a particular program in 
the bank editor, not the other way around.
 -- The key mapping combo boxes in instrument parameter boxes are 
useless.
 -- Having a fixed channel for a key mapping adds complexity and is of 
only limited use (or at least, would be if it worked in the GUI).
