Yeah, I guess I should edit that back out of the README.  At the time we were

It was more likely snd-seq-midi, but anyway, yes, I think we do have a problem 
with taking a crap gracelessly when the ALSA MIDI stuff isn't available.  
That probably needs tracking and fixing.
