I created the "Alesis-QS7_QS8.rgd" file in RG right before a
release, and managed to get it into the release.  Was it 1.0?
Anyway, is creating the percussion definition analogous to that?
Where should I start to try to learn how to do this?  I don't
mind tinkering a bit to see how things work.

I haven't looked there.  MUP has a percussion clef.  Maybe it's
best not to even look there tho, so as to avoid any copyright
infringement possibilities or appearances.

Do you mean, like where on the staff?  Something else?
