My wife's machine finally gave up the ghost. Total flatline, no response whatsoever. That's pretty much the end of any ability I might have to figure out what's going wrong, so it's now officially a doorstop. That machine has always been really screwy, so I'm replacing it wholesale with a whole new box.
Lots of dicking around ahead before I get this move done successfully. Both installations on both respective hard drives are changing architectures, video cards, etc., so it's probably going to be a long night ahead, and maybe a long while. -- D.
