Rulers. That's what confused me. So even if you are playing Hydrogen with Rosegarden directly, you still experience this? > How can I solve this? or should I send this email to the development > list for fixing? although before i do that I need to know if other > people has this problem I'm CCing the devel list. I have no idea off hand. Chris knows a lot more about timing and synchronization type issues. All I can do is confirm that it works fine here. I have Hydrogen and Rosegarden both set to 120 bpm, and they stayed in sync through JACK transport perfectly, near as I can tell, for five minutes. OK, now I have set Rosegarden to play Hydrogen for its metronome. I still have JACK transport sync enabled, so Rosegarden is both playing Hydrogen, and triggering Hydrogen to start via JACK transport at the same time. When I do this, I hear some timing issues. The first four measures really clash, and then it falls into a pattern where Rosegarden's metronome is some fraction behind Hydrogen. This is not surprising, since Hydrogen is playing itself, on the one hand, and it is also responding to notes from Rosegarden, on the other, which must pass through ALSA first. OK, now I'm just using Rosegarden to play Hydrogen as the metronome, and I'm watching the little ticks on the ruler to see if I can see a pattern where there is an increasing error over time between where the playback pointer is in relation to the ruler and what I'm hearing. This looks fine, near as I can see. It's hard to gauge whether the pointer is sweeping across the tick marks at exactly the right instant, but whatever error either way seems to be the same over time. -- D.
