QT layout is evil. Twiddle, compile, worse. Twiddle, compile, worse. Adding these buttons made the whole dockable widget expand for no reason I can fathom. There were already enough columns in the SPB to accommodate the buttons, lined up with buttons above them, so why is it being so stupid? Then I added the same supposedly space saving buttons to the TPB, and the layout grew by another 10 pixels compared to where it was before I started. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't figure this out. I'm just wasting my time trying. I will commit it with everything worked out but the layout, and wash my hands of that damnable business. I should know better than to try. Even using Designer, it does completely stupid things for no discernible reason. I have concluded that I thoroughly despise QT layout code. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I have yet to do is get the SPB to behave in a sensible fashion with all that tristate stuff, and I'm done with phase one, and out of your way except for making that hidden button do something. Somebody else can work out less stupid looking, more compact widgets. I would have done it if I could, but after another two hours straight just going from bad to worse, it's time to yield, lay down my sword, and move on. -- D.
