It is like a set of tabs, placed at the left side of the area, instead of the top, and with the text turned 90˚. The current tab button (selected state) has a dark background, while the non-selected tab buttons have a light background, which turns slowly darker when you move the mouse pointer over them. A nice visual effect. If you click again over a tab button when it is selected, the whole tabbed area is collapsed (except for the tab buttons), and can be restored again clicking the same or any other button. As Guillaume said, it is very similar to the side tab buttons of KDevelop, except for the mouse-over visual effect. I think that this control could be used to replace the current tabbed arrangement, with the drawback of the tab buttons placed at the left side taking some additional space from the track list and canvas, while our current tabs are placed at the top of the area. I agree with Michael when he said that it does not solve the problem of the vertical stacked arrangement at all. We are trying to find a way to place the three current parameter areas together at the screen and at the same place, without taking too much space from the track list and canvas, and without sacrificing any control so everybody will be happy.
