I can't reproduce this behavior. Rosegarden doesn't has a limit for the length of system exclusive messages. Please follow this procedure to verify: 1) Start a MIDI monitor program. It can be aseqdump (from the alsa-utils package) or KMidimon ( http://kmetronome.sf.net/kmidimon ). 2) Start Rosegarden. Assign the first track to a device/instrument which is connected to the MIDI monitor program. Use Composition->Studio->Manage MIDI devices if you need to explore or change the existing connections. 3) Create an empty segment in track one. Open it in the Event List Editor. Create a new event (Edit->Insert Event) of type "systemexclusive". Press the "Load Data" button, and insert a file of size > 265. You can also type the hex values by hand on the "data" field. 4) Press Rosegarden's play button, and look at the monitor program output.
