In truth, I have no idea what crotales are either, but I think you must have found the right answer here. I know we have a "crotales" clef as one of the transposing clefs, and this article says crotales sound two octaves higher than written. It makes sense. How to translate the word, that's another story entirely. This kind of thing is why I never made any money doing translations. You can waste an entire day on one weird little word. -- D.
