Currently, you need to make an another voice in which you create the rythm
and make the notes invisible. Then you attach the text event to these
invisble notes.
So, it is not impossible.
The solution is a cousin to the solution that each lyrics event would not be
attached to a note, but each lyric event would have an own timing. Both
note-attaching and
free-timing are possible in LilyPond.
