The Qt4 port is still a long way from becoming usable, but it's far enough
along that we're confident we can finally close out development on the old
KDE/Qt3 line of code, flush out everything in the pipeline, and get it out
there for use and testing to tide everyone over for now.

You can download the -rc1 tarball at:

http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/pre/rosegarden-1.7.3-rc1.tar.bz2

Here's the future release note draft:

We've probably gotten all the testing we're going to get, and there don't seem
to be any showstoppers, or any need to fool with a -pre2.

Unless something derails the process, I intend to post the release on Imbolc,
which happens to coincide with Groundhog Day here in the US (February 2nd.)
This is the cross-quarters day between the winter solstice and the spring
equinox here in the northern hemisphere, and marks the official first day of
spring by my own admittedly unusual reckoning.

Hopefully it won't be much longer before Arborvitian Gardens are in bloom, and
I can secure a new icon for Rosegarden Thorn.
