I've already spotted that I need to edit and re-upload the release note to remove the "PRE-" in front of "PRE-RELEASED" but otherwise the release note is in final form, and I'm intending to keep using this one.
I'm not going to bother with a stable_10_02 branch, and will keep releasing these straight out of trunk/ for the duration, right up until 14th February. There is still time to get translation updates in, and critical bug fixes in, but anything remotely upsetting of stability should be done in a branch or saved for a week. https://sourceforge.net/projects/rosegarden/ This also means we are officially releasing with several known and irritating bugs that will not be fixed for this release. The most serious ones I know about: * Fine positioning in the notation editor is horribly broken, and completely useless * Cursor forward/back and select in the matrix are questionable and unreliable * Control event rulers are supposed to let you cut/copy/paste, and this is completely broken, as well as the synchronization of selections between these rulers and the owning edit view * Progress dialogs are still really annoying, and may be about to disappear by 10.04 * None of the notation progress reporter stuff ever got hooked up, so you can sit there a long time waiting on something to happen with no indication that something is happening beyond a spinning busy cursor * None of the matrix status bar stuff ever got hooked up at all * The notation status bar stuff got hooked up poorly, and was never audited to improve layout and appearance * Several random dialogs still have questionable layout issues * Several things are hard-coded in the Thorn style, and do not honor the setting if the user wishes to turn this off * Everything is generally a little to a lot slower than it was in Classic, owing to all the completely new code that has not had years of optimizations performed on it yet It's a pretty big list of things we missed. All in all, we've added a lot of cool new stuff, and most importantly, we've established our continued existence as a project. To add a bit of a whimper to our big bang, I'd like to announce that I am going to be taking a big break from development work on this project for the next while, and I will just be hanging in the background doing day to day maintenance and administration. This probably means that our pace of development is about to slack off sharply, and I don't want this to take anyone by surprise. I simply cannot continue at the pace I've set for myself over the last few months. I have literally gone for months on end without taking a single day off, and it is past time to remedy that. -- D.
