Hmm, not necessarily -- I suppose it depends on what version of Qt you
have, but:

this line (which I suppose was of the form ba.append(buffer, length))
can presumably be replaced by ba.append(QByteArray(buffer, length))...
assuming that that constructor does exist in the version you have.
