I'll commit a modified version of the patch containing only the bug-fixy bits.
Thanks to you (and everyone else as well) for the suggestions/discussions on
linked segments and triggered segments, I'm now aware of a number of
implementation ideas, use-cases and potential pitfalls I'd never even
considered before. Maybe I should write them all up in a wiki page or
something? As and when my hackings on linked segments start to become
functional I'll make a branch and commit my stuff to it.
