Hello John and dev Team,

John, Thank you for your valuable input.

Thank you for pointing out what I called a bug. You are right, that somebody
had intent on showing a keymapping when none was assigned to the program.

I think having the keymapping show up in matrix view to be valuable beyond your
keyswitching needs.

I see from your explanation in the last post that we would not need to allow
key mappings in non-percussion banks.

I retract this.

...

I would like to propose to the team that we adopt the following:

* allowing matrix view to show a keymapping if one is assigned to the program.

* remove the current behavior that forces a key mapping to display, even if
when one is assigned, and place a keyboard there in its place.

This would allow keymappings to show in both views when one is assigned to the
program; unify the two views a bit further by having a common expected behavior.

I argue that most people who have gone through the trouble of assigning a
keymapping to a program would appreciate using it instead of a generic keyboard
layout.

The down side is that people may unassign keymappings to view the keyboard.

Please provide your thoughts on this.

Sincerely,
Julie S.
