A couple of months ago (I posted about it I think, not sure if anyone actually
read it) I compiled rosegarden on windows using Cygwin with every dependency
included, except for alsa obviously. I used the windows version of Jack2 to
satisfy the Jack dependency. For replacing alsa on windows, my suspicion is
that everything rosegarden uses alsa for can be done using jack. I have no
definitive proof for that assertion, but from looking through the jack2
examples it seems to do most if not all of what's required. So it's just a
simple exercise of implementing the SoundDriver interface in terms of Jack
functionality, he said with his tongue firmly in his cheek.

I mention this only for general information - I'm sure Cygwin has its own
perils and pitfalls. But it did actually function as a notation editor if not a
sequencer when eventually it ran.

Cheers,

Ian.
