I think the idea was to make it easier for the user to save a copy of the 
stock file after modifying it to play successfully.  If the files are in /usr 
somewhere, it requires more effort to save a copy, and nothing ever works out 
of the box on Linux, so we can count on everything having to be modified 
somewhat before it works for any given user.

All of that _should_ be a lot easier on Windows.  I'll find out whenever I get 
another chance to play with my wife's computer.
