   Cool.

   There is one unfortunate bug that has been introduced by r13832 and 
r13833.  Namely, when you create a new device and import a 
variations-based device file, you may end up with no way to select a 
program/variation.  (This is because the newly created instruments have 
potentially bogus values.  A very old bug that's on my todo.)  As a 
workaround you can turn off variations mode, select a bank/pc, then turn 
variations back on.  I'm working on this now.  In the end, it's a good 
bug since it has given me an idea: I'm going to try and bullet-proof the 
MIPP so that it can handle anything (i.e. Instrument bank/pc values that 
aren't in the Device), and the user can always recover easily (e.g. the 
0th variation programs will still be in the program combobox).  Should 
have this by next Saturday.

   Just a heads-up in case anyone runs into this.
