All, I am a total newbie to all of this midi stuff.
(A guitar player looking for a band inside my Korg) My Rig: Ubuntu running RoseGarden 10.02 midisport 2x2 Korg TR I followed the directions on the website to create a RGD file for my KORG, and muddled through the python script, et al to create Korg-TR.rgd. I looked at it in an editor and it looks very similar to other KORG rgd files supplied with RoseGarden. I was able to select it in RoseGarden and select banks and instruments. Here is what I don't get: When I create a short segment in a track with a Korg TR Bank/instrument selection, it will send the Korg the correct instrument number but switch back to the GM bank. If I manually switch to the selected bank, the number is correct and the correct instrument sounds. When I hit rewind, it resets to the GM bank again. I really don't understand this at all......what is the point of having banks if the result is to select the GM bank all the time? I must have some setting wrong or something.......please have mercy on a MIDI newbie and point me in the right direction.... I haven't even attempted combis or percussion yet....not sure how at this point.
