Wow. After reading these accounts, I have given up on self-compiling on
such old hardware, but I was able to do some wimpy real-time editing with
the 10.x release included in Debian Squeeze. As long as I stick to one
voice only, I can hear at the same time I edit. Thanks for the feedback.
