There are also some copyright changes, haven't looked lately. But regardless there are so many inconsistencies that I'm beginning to think that 'flatpacking' is the future :-) The ZynAddSubFX plugins (sometimes called ZASF in RG) don't automatically install with the installation of the standalone ZynAddSubFX as I had assumed for a long time. In some cases you need a literal ZybAddSubFX-dssi package, in others just their global dssi, it's a whorehouse. I don't use Pipewire YET so to get a session going I launch qJackctl 1st, THEN qSynth (which gives vocal chords to RG), then some other stuff like maybe Hydrogen2, and __finally__ RG. I also rotatate using 5 different distros and they do NOT behave the same way! It's with Suse Leap & Tumbleweed that "I" have had the fewest 'studio' problems at this point in time, sans prejudice. So taking that as a basis - Right click on the 1st track header in RG and select Synth Plugin #1 - In the left Instrument-Params/Synth-Plugin-#1 window observe the "No Synth" (selected) button - Click it and with the dropdown button labelled (none) select ZynAddSubFX - The above Synth-Plugin-#1 plugin button is now labelled ZASF - Clicking it brings up the Zyn instrument selector dialog Under ALL my systems (below) in RG the standalone ZynAddSubFX does NOT get a port in the RG/Midi-Devices Manager window. 129:0 & 14:0 are the only ports shown and I use them for Gen-Midi Synth input and Midi-Through respectively. Under Suse Leap: https://i.imgur.com/DCRogWF.png No (other) issues The Zyn plugin is usable in RG. Under Suse-Tumbleweed: https://i.imgur.com/yjvbX3X.png Everything (else) comes together perfect. Under Artix: https://i.imgur.com/zcanGBh.png I'me happy with Arttix BUT.. qSynth hang-locks on launch. Standalone Zyn starts but qjackctl refuses to connect it. Upon trying to open the RG file created in the Leap exercise with RG, it starts with an alert "Plugins not found" for ZASF (from libzynaddsubfx_dssi.iso). Nor is the plugin there as in the Leap exercise. So this exercise goes no further at this time (dssi-1.1.1-11 is installed, nothing else with dssi in it avails). Under Devuan: https://i.imgur.com/jUWYyyy.png Everything (else) comes together as it's supposed to, similar to Suse Under Slackware: https://i.imgur.com/NNdZuFC.png qjackctl start fine, BUT qsynth fails to create audio driver jack, the temporary RG file opens with RG and the ZASF plugin is there as it should be. -- Artificial-Stupidity will never be competitive _______________________________________________ Rosegarden-user mailing list Rosegarden-user@lists.sourceforge.net - use the link below to unsubscribe https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rosegarden-user
