Hi all,

I noticed that if autosave is turned, Rosegarden autosaves a file in the $HOME/.local/share/rosegarden/autosave directory even if the file is 'unsaved' (and some editing activity has been going on so that the satus is 'unsaved' meaning when you have an asterisk shown in the main window title).

However if I 'crash' (kill) rosegarden and start it up again no clue is provided about an auto-save file.

On the other hand when working with a saved file autosave 'recovery' works as expected by prompting that an autosave file exists and if you want to recover that one (albeit that sometimes autosave files get 'left behind' in the directory).

I actually think that - as strange and contradictory as it might seem - being able to recover an autosaved unsaved file could be useful in some cases. I know, one should immediately save the project as you start working etc. But autosave features are ideally there to help users when they make a mistake (like forgetting to save their latest masterpiece and their laptop dies as they were too concentrated on making music :-)

Insights?

Lorenzo
