Hm, are they actually using photos, or some clever SVG manipulation software to produce things that look very like real road signs? Either way, I have previously had the dream of getting stuff like this for OSM. I have a navigation system with a (reasonably) high-quality display. Lots of OSMers take photos of stuff while mapping. Storage is becoming cheaper. The conclusion is obvious...
