My question---Why would NCPDP a Designated Standards Maintenance
Organization under HIPAA propose their own unique provider identifier to
replace the DEA number. What happened to the National Provider ID which
has been set as the standard?? Not every provider in the US writes
prescriptions. This seems to further confuse the issue. Now we'll just
have one more provider number to replace when the NPI comes along...

Comments please....
