Because the XML-RPC spec requires a correct content-length header then you
really have to assemble the message in memory to work out how long it is
before sending it.

If you are doing something like sending the Base64 encoded contents of a
file you could avoid this because you know the file length and can work out
the length of the message before reading the file. However this is special
case stuff and you would not really expect a general purpose XML-RPC
implementation to do it.
