The trouble is that if you build rpcemu following the instructions then it 
overwrites configure and the other files.  Then 'svn status' or 'svn diff' is 
cluttered by changes to non-source files.

If it's important for people to build rpcemu without the autotools installed 
then I'd suggest moving the existing copies of these files to a 'here's one I 
made earlier' directory.  Then the readme can say: if you have autotools 
installed then run these commands, but if not you can just copy the files from 
blue_peter/ to this directory and type 'make'.  Either way you then have a 
clean working copy, without spurious changes.
