A custom MDF will have to be generated.

Unfortunately makemodes doesn't work (Unknown error 4096 on start up) -
I haven't tried any of the other MDF generators but I suspect that
they'll do something similar.

Thinking out loud I suppose there might be the info needed in
some .conf file or something in Ubuntu somewhere - or maybe there's a
command that gives all the information needed to manually make a MDF.

I am also running ubuntu eee 8.04 on an Eee PC 901.

Which reminds me (slightly OT) we are going to have another stab at
getting rpcemu running on a "straight" Eee PC at SASAUG on monday - *if*
it works we'll write it up
