Sound should be working on the Linux version, there's a few reasons why it might not be though. 1) Check the configuration GUI and make sure sound is turned on. http://www.marutan.net/rpcemuspoon/manual/#menu 2) The sound library that Allegro (Allegro is the library against which RPCEmu is written) is using (OSS or ALSA) does not have a driver for your sound card. 3) Just have a quick check and make sure that other linux apps are producing sound that you can hear. If not check your sound mixer settings.
