Hello,

I recently started learning Python. I am a long time R user so I became
interested to bring Python into R. While I've used Rpy2 sucessfully, I
would feel more comfortable using small snippets of python code into R
programs.

I tried to build the RSPython package
http://www.omegahat.org/RSPython/index.html with a current version of
Python without much success. If anybody on the list has managed to do it,
can you please share it with me?

I am also considering having a "simple" socket based connection between R
and python. The R client would send commands to a python server. I have
some prototype Python code for the server. However I could use some
pointers on the python side. If anybody on the list is knowledgeable
about the socket and socketserver modules, and would like to
collaborate, please let me know. I can pass you my files showing you my
current state. I wanted to guide my design similarly to the RinRuby
package, see http://www.jstatsoft.org/v29/i04.

Thanks,
Adrian
