no, that won't work in many cases, especially in mine: 
We keep the history for top 40 source and transit autonomous systems.
It means that the 40th entry sometimes changes. 
Thus, there are 80 RRD files of 2 types, and I want to 
monitor and graph them, and I don't want to describe each of them in 
the configuration. 
That's where the pattern matching would be of great help.
