Agreed, if you know in advance that the values will be low, it would be an option to have the first form. And yes, I think it could be a useful feature (in fact I already suggested it on rrd-developers). The problem is that it isn't easy to implement it the right way. I'm sure it will eventually be included in the newer releases of RRDtool but it could take "some" time to do so. In the mean time, if you need it *now*, I think you should hack this up yourself in rrd_graph.c You don't need it to be done the proper way, you already know it will be low values so you don't need any checks and such.
