Ooops, last message got cut off. Anyhow, Colt is a utility that would run under mod_perl on a central server. Your remote machines can gather data and then report it back to Colt via a HTTP GET. Colt then logs the data to the RRD of your choice. Included in the tarball is some example Perl for talking to Colt. I should be trivial to interface in C or anything else--it's simple HTTP.
