The first and best thing you can do when using rpms, is to install the
rpm rpmdb-redhat-xxxx.rpm.  From then on you will get meaningful
messages such as (I can't remember exactly):

suggested resolutions:
perl-5.8.0-55

Then you can install the rpm's it suggests, instead of having to guess
what provides a particular dependancy.
