But, you can always define an RRA that is not lossy. I have all my RRDs set up with the average RRAs as well as a "non-lossy" 5 minute RRA that has been extended to 1 year. We back these RRDs up at the end of the year. At this point, I've got 5 years worth of 5 minute data, and regularly do long-term analysis of our bandwidth consumption.
