Hi all, rrdtool does not always exit with a return code greater than 0 when there is a problem with its command line. For example:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] chris]$ /usr/bin/rrdtool create /foo/bar.rrd --start 1112784412 DS:battery_voltage:GAUGE:600:U:U DS:input_frequency:GAUGE:600:U:U DS:input_voltage:GAUGE:600:U:U DS:input_voltage.minim:GAUGE:600:U:U DS:input_voltage_maximum:GAUGE:600:U:U DS:ups_load:GAUGE:600:U:U RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 ERROR: can't parse argument 'DS:input_voltage.minim:GAUGE:600:U:U' [EMAIL PROTECTED] chris]$ echo $? 0 The output error message could also be more useful. I had to use trial and error to find out that the maximum length of a variable name was 19 characters and that dots (.) were not allowed.
