Also, big thanks to Al & Andy for their assistance. 

Now I'm stuck on getting the perl bindings to work. :-(  Configure says:

I guess it's because I got perl off sunfreeware.com and it was
compiled differently.  Is there a way to make it work without
recompiling all of perl?
