There are really two options here. Either: 1. Export your data from and delete your new RRDs, update the old ones with the new data and then rename the old ones to the new names.
--or-- 2. User routers2 to create a target that is not being polled by mrtg that looks something like this: Routers.cgi*Target[ipaddress_1]: <doesn't matter what goes here> Of course you will need to fill out all of the other MRTG options such as MaxBytes ect and make sure to propend routers.cgi* to them. This function became available in one of the more recent versions but I use it in v2.16beta5. -----Original Message----- From: Coulter, Alan [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 5:53 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [rrd-users] Accessing RRDtool information across different file names Hi We have been running MRTG, RRDtool and Routers2 for some months, using the default cfgmaker option --ifref=nr. This produced file names of the format ipaddress_1.rrd. Recently we decided to have something more meaningful than interface number: we chose --ifref=name, giving file names of the format ipaddress_fa0_1.rrd. The old files are still there. Have we lost the ability to view the information contained in them? Can old & new files be viewed at the same time?
