that may be understandable, if he would only try to fill in data at timestamps 
not beeing n*stepsize 
into a given database which starts at n*stepsize ... but he accordingly changed 
the start timestamp
of the db.. 

this means, rrdtool is unable to change the "start timestamp" and use this as 
base for the update-
process? it seems to be impossible to use a different steptime than 
"n*stepsize+0" .. and this should
be changed to "n*stepsize+starttime" ...

Is it an error or a feature?
