I don't see why an object can't have multiple names from the same
namespace.

That's a statement about a requirement for identifiers used in session
control.  It's not a requirement for any particular identifier, e.g.
it's not a requirement for FQDNs.  We need to make a statement about
the scope of this exercise, and what requirements it is meant to meet,
before proceeding much further.
