It should be noted that symmetric paths are not available anywhere in the Internet today. Transit domain policies can basically do anything to traffic patterns, so even symmetric use of locators (or even a restricted case of only a single locator per host) cannot guarantee symmetry today. Symmetry would require that return packets either be source routed along the path of the ingress packets, or some form of symmetric path setup in a connection oriented network.
