This version adds:

It is not unknown in academia for supervisors to automatically share authorship of work by their students. Such cases should be resolved within the RFC stream concerned.

I tend to think that academic supervisors should not automatically share authorship with their students, so I’d prefer that text be removed.

The earlier addition about “making a key conceptual or intellectual contribution” would seem to cover legitimate authorship for academic supervisors advising their students, without being specific to the (arguably undesirable) quirks of a particular community.
