As reported over the last year, the RFC Production Center (RPC) and the Community will be benefiting from a new set of tools that will change the way RFCs are edited, published, and consumed. The initial rollout will take place during the week of 11 May 2026.
The updates include a new workflow system that will be tightly integrated with the Datatracker and support RFC numbers greater than four digits, a new editing tool that will streamline the editorial process, and a new website with improved accessibility that is focused on RFC Consumers. This provides significant upgrades now, and paves the way for additional improvements to the RFC Editor function. The update is not expected to result in any downtime for the www.rfc-editor.org website; there may be a one-day pause of submitting and processing errata.
